With the previous launch of Vivo V9 in Thailand and Philippines, Vivo has now launched the same model in India on Thursday at a price tag of Rs. 22,990. The V9 features a notch popularised by the iPhone X. Being a successor to its previous Vivo V7, the V9 features a 6.3-inch FHD FullView display 2.0 (2280×1080) with a new 19:9 aspect ratio. The company claims the V9 is the first smartphone to have a 90 percent screen-to-body-ratio display.
The major highlight of the smartphone is the bezel-less display as it has 1.75mm slim bezels. This notch holds the proximity sensor, earpiece, an impressive 24-megapixel front-facing camera with an AI beauty mode for more refined selfies.
Other than that notch on the front, The Vivo V9 features dual rear cameras with a combination of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors with f/2.0 and f/2.4 LED flash. The rear camera features are Slow Motion, AI Face Beauty, and 4K video.
The AI algorithm has been prepared using a million facial feature images and will apply the correct beauty settings for your age, sex, skin tone, and texture. It goes ahead to gain from your customizations, getting better the more you use it. Vivo’s AI Face Access is an upgraded Android Face Recognition feature. The upgrade is the Attention Sensing, which screens if you’re taking a gander at the phone or not, similar to what Face ID does on the iPhone X. Probably the feature can be disabled on the Vivo V9 as well.
Apart from this, The V9 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset with an octa-core processor., paired with 4GB RAM and offers 64GB storage which is further expandable. It is packed with a 3260mAh battery. It comes with Android 8.1 out-of-the-box, which is skinned by the company’s FuntouchOS 4.0. The V9 also comes with fingerprint scanner mounted at the back for biometric authentication.
The Vivo V9 has Face Unlock functionality, which works for App Lock as well. It has the usual connectivity options including dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microUSB port. In terms of design, the phone has a glass back.
Vivo V9 comes in three color variants Pearl Black, Champagne Gold, and Sapphire Blue. The phone is available across all the major e-commerce sites along with Vivo’s official website. Priced at Rs 22,990, the phone is supposed to go on sale from 2nd April, with pre-booking starting from today. Additionally, consumers can avail a discount of Rs 2000 if the smartphone is brought under exchange policy.
