Vivo V11 Pro Design:
Manufacturers rapidly adopted the notch design trend in 2018, which made most phones end up with sizeable intrusions on displays. On the NEX and FindX, Vivo and OPPO achieved a true fullscreen display through a mechanical pop-up camera. However, the mechanical setup was expensive to implement on a mass market product and it brought along with itself concerns regarding reliability. Therefore, the only other cheaper and robust solution was going for a display with a smaller notch.
Vivo V11 Pro offers a very modern design aesthetic, featuring a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED display with minimal bezels and a waterdrop-style notch. The build and finishing is too good, the handset looks a lot different though the body is plastic the back looks really different/unique and eye catchy. The handset is lightweight, and comfortable to hold and use.
There’s a speaker grill at the top which is so perfectly placed that you might not even notice it. Below that, there’s a front camera notch, and Vivo designed the phone as such that the notch could be as small as possible. Infrared and ambient sensors are beside the speaker grill but are not visible. You would only notice the red blink from IR sensor at the right top when unlocking the phone in the dark using face unlock.
At the bottom, there’s 3.5 mm jack, micro-USB port for charging/data transfer and speaker grill. At the right edge, there’s the volume rocker and power buttons.
Vivo V11 Pro Display:
The V11 Pro’s display has extremely thin bezels to the sides and a slim chin. With the drop notch, the top bezels also appear to be pretty slim. Vivo V11 Pro comes with a 6.41-inch display having 19.5:9 aspect ratio and the chin at the bottom which is almost negligible to observe. The display here comes with Gorilla Glass 3, which is quite older, it’s not as good as Gorilla Glass 5 or the new Gorilla Glass 6.
I used it for a couple of hours, the screen was scratched up quite a bit and I would strongly recommend you to use a screen protector in case you’re planning to purchase the Vivo V11 Pro. Quality-wise the panel is great, it gets pretty bright and has decent viewing angles. Overall, Vivo has made use of the space on the front very efficiently, which makes for a very futuristic-looking smartphone. Well done Vivo!
Vivo V11 Pro Performance:
Vivo V11 Pro packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM. This phone comes with 64GB of internal storage which can expand via microSD card up to 256GB as the phone support triple card slot, One for Micro SD Card and other 2 for SIMs. This phone is a beast in the budget smartphone range. I tested the device quite thoroughly, running the most popular games like PUBG, Asphalt, full day multiple app usages and I have no complaints.
I did not find any issue with networks, the sound is loud and clear. The fingerprint sensor is very fast almost instant and adds to it the face unlock is equally impressive. The in-display fingerprint technology is 4th gen and much improved with better detection and accuracy, plus you can use both fingerprints and face unlock together, whichever detects first.
Vivo V11 Pro Software and UI:
If you’ve ever used a smartphone from Vivo before, then you’d probably already know that the company likes to heavily customize its user interface to make it look more like an iOS device and the Vivo V11 Pro is no different. Vivo comes packed with FunTouch OS (Version 4.5) which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo which offers many useful features to enhance the user experience. Features include:
- Motorbike Mode
- Privacy and App encryption (App Lock)
- App clone
- Smart Click
- Disable Toast Notifications
- Jovi
- Face Beauty for Video calls
- FileBox
- Smart Motion
- Smart Split
- Easy Touch
- Vivo Cloud
Vivo V11 Pro Camera:
The Vivo V11 Pro features a 12MP+5MP dual camera setup on the back which sports a large f/1.8 aperture and 1.28μm pixels, along with a 25MP selfie shooter up front. Vivo offers 2DP camera which means dual-pixel camera sensors, especially used to enhance low-light images. The primary camera setup is capable of taking some stunning images in good lighting conditions, but it struggles to keep up the performance in low light shots. The best part is both front, as well as rear cameras, can shoot in portrait mode (bokeh). The portrait mode works well in most situations, separating the foreground and background through clear edge detection.
The camera can also shoot up to 4K videos at 30fps. The video quality is just above average and the lack of OIS does pose a challenge to shoots stable videos. What’s interesting is the AI beautification in the video, which enhances human faces while shooting.
Vivo V11 Camera features include:
- AI Backlight HDR
- AI Low Light Mode
- Funmoji
- AI Scene Recognition
- AI Selfie Lighting
Other features; Battery life, Connectivity, and Sensors:
Vivo V11 pro has 3400mAh of the battery which offers 12 hours of battery life which lasts for a day of moderate usage. It supports Vivo Dual-Engine Fast Charging, that charges the battery at rapid speed. There are two charging chips – this tech can charge battery much faster and is pretty safe. There are Super Power Saving and Low power battery modes which help the battery last through the end of the day.
The device features a 3.5mm headphone jack and a triple slot SIM card tray with a dedicated slot for expansion using a microSD card. Other connectivity options include dual-band 2.5GHz/5GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 and USB OTG Support. I used this device with idea ad Jio network and never faced any issue with network or connectivity.
Final Verdict:
Vivo V11 Pro overall is an impressive package with a stylistic design and futuristic features in a mid-range budget. Camera quality is pretty impressive. Vivo V11 Pro Price in India is Rs. 25,999. The price looks really good considering the unique looks and the impressive camera quality. If raw performance isn’t your concern, then the V11 Pro is a highly recommendable one to opt for in the midrange category.
