Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Vice Chairman Mr Jay Y. Lee on Thursday met India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi. He reiterated Samsung’s long-term commitment to the people of India as a strategic partner.
Vice Chairman Lee apprised the Prime Minister of Samsung’s business operations and citizenship activities in the country. Lee discussed Samsung’s role in the Make in India and Digital India initiatives in developing India as an imperative production base and focal R&D center point. As Samsung continues to view India as an important strategic partner.
He said Samsung’s ultimate goal is to be not just a foreign investor but a true local business in India, where Samsung will work with local communities to build a better future. Besides Make in India, Samsung is also committed to ‘Make for India’, an initiative to create meaningful local innovations for the Indian consumers.
In India, ‘Samsung Smart Class’ project is helping more than 200,000 understudies from low wage families to experience e-learning at 376 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools. Also, 18 Samsung Technical Schools are bestowing skills to youth to empower their employability.
