Design and Built:
The phone has a metal unibody design that looks premium and stylish. I found the back a bit slippery and would recommend a cover for protection. We have received the Gold variant of the smartphone.
The phone has curved sides, and Asahi DragonTrail toughness glass protection protects the display, and it is rarely available in budget level smartphones. It has three capacitive buttons, Home, back and Recent items at the bottom of the screen and they won’t light up. The metallic power and hybrid dual SIM slot are placed on the right and the other left side it has Volume up/down buttons.
At the bottom of the device, there is a Micro USB port, speaker grills. At the top of the device, it has a 3.5 mm audio jack and a secondary microphone for noise cancellation. It has a dual wide-angle front camera set up above the 5.5-inch display with a single LED flash.
The rear panel has a rear camera with dual LED flash and Mobiistar branding. There is a Fingerprint sensor which works quite well and opens up a lock hardly in 0.1 seconds. Anttena band lines at the top and bottom side of back panel also contribute to its look. In my opinion, the design of this phone is pretty impressive.
The new Mobiistar XQ Dual comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The screen is covered with 2.5D curved Asahi DragonTrail toughness glass protection, and it is rarely available in budget level smartphones. The display of the smartphone is good but could be better. The display is vivid, sharp and bright enough to offer good colors and decent experience with good viewing angles.
Mobiistar XQ Dual has an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset clocked at 1.4GHz and 3 GB of RAM. This phone comes with 32GB of internal storage which can expand via microSD card up to 128GB as the phone support Hybrid tray for Micro SD Card. We tried to use the internet, WhatsApp, streaming videos, etc. the device was able to run casual games smoothly without any lags while the high-end games need time to load. The multitasking ability is also average.
The smartphone’s performance is optimized to give maximum battery life, so the performance is just average. But still, it is performing just fine in that price range. We cannot spot some good models with more performance in that range. The fingerprint sensor works fine and offers excellent security options. The Video and Audio quality of the smartphone is decent. So if you are looking for good performance device, this phone is not advisable for you.
Software and UI:
The Mobiistar XQ Dual runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box with their custom UI on top named as Custom UI v3.0. They could have included the Android Oreo-based operating system. But, Thanks to the brand, they didn’t add so many bloatware with the device, unlike other custom skins. The smartphone also has few built-in themes and some wallpapers which you can customize by using the special effects. There is a battery charging protection feature, which prevents the overcharging of the phone. There is a Freezer app which lets users freeze apps and save power while speeding up the phone.
As mentioned earlier, the XQ Dual comes with a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture on the rear side. Coming to the front, we have a dual camera setup with a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture along with a secondary 8-megapixel camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture for group selfies. There is a single LED flash for low light selfies. The camera interface is simple and has seven levels of face beauty and features like buffing, whitening, enlarging and slimming gives an excellent selfie experience. Under deficient lighting conditions also, selfies are good enough to share on Social Media.
There are only a few modes like Pro, Night, and GDR. Regarding shots were taken using the rear camera in daylight, the photos were good, and with a proper focus, the macro shots were actually quite better than expected but in low light pictures were grainy and not that good. Overall the front camera is impressive, but the rear camera could be better.
Other features; Battery life, Connectivity, and Sensors:
Mobiistar XQ Dual has 3000mAh of the battery which offers 12 hours of battery life which lasts for a day of moderate usage. However, if you’re into playing a lot of games on the mobile, you might have to charge it twice a day. There are Ultra Power Saving and Smart Power Saving battery modes which help the battery last through the end of the day.
The device supports 4G, and it comes with VoLTE feature as well. Both the SIMs support 4G, but you can enable 4G only in one SIM at a time, while the other goes to 3G. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG support. I used this with idea ad Jio network and never faced any issue with network or connectivity.
