Asus Zenfone 5Z Teased Officially by Flipkart, To Launch on July 4th!

The Asus Zenfone 5Z is a flagship offering from Asus that was unveiled at MWC 2018. Now, the device is finally coming to India. Asus partnered with Flipkart to sell its smartphones at a competitive price like the recently launched Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 to compete with the likes of Xiaomi and Honor.

Yesterday, Flipkart teased the launch of the Asus Zenfone 5Z, and now Flipkart has confirmed the device and its launch date. The Asus Zenfone 5Z is scheduled for launch in India on July 4 at 12 noon, as a Flipkart exclusive. The device will directly compete with other flagships in similar price bracket including the OnePlus 6 and the Honor 10.

We were expecting Asus to launch the Zenfone 5 as well, but then there is no mention for the same, indicating its late arrival.

The Zenfone 5Z is the top end variant in the Zenfone 5 series which comprises of Zenfone 5 and 5 Lite as well. It comes with a 6.2-inch full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch on top. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage.

In the optics department, the device comes with a Dual Rear Camera setup featuring an optically stabilized f/1.8 12MP primary sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, and an 8MP secondary shooter for 120-degree wide angle shots. An 8MP shooter is present at the front for selfies.

The device runs on ZenUI based on Android Oreo that packs some nifty AI features, backed by a 3300mAh battery that supports QuickCharge 3.0.

Given the fact that the 5Z already retails in few markets for around $558 (roughly Rs.38,000), it is expected to be priced similar in India, against the Oneplus 6 and Honor 10. Let’s see at what price it comes on July 4. Till then, Stay tuned.
